Animation, Die Art - Interview With Christoph Grosse Hovest |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| In the first steps I produced some soundscapes for the different settings using a lot of field recordings and electrically synthesized material to simulate the movement of the characters and their surroundings. The second step was the music part that breaks out of these soundscapes and becomes one with the other sounds. The start of the music brings about a new point of view. The creatures are no longer a menace; you become familiar with the strange and even become sentimental to it. That is some kind of poetic isn’t it?
IA: Have you tried to describe in a poetic manner a metaphoric world where all is electronic; creatures, music and feelings? CH: It ought to be utopia in which the melting of nature and engineering is picked out as a central theme. So I can answer your question with yes.
CH: I´ve been quite impressed by the work of First Ave and other agencies that composite real shots and 3d additions and, of course, all artists are inspired by the work of other artists. But there are many other excellent agencies: Sehsucht (www.sehsucht.de) from Hamburg is one of my favorites. I also like the works of Velvet (www.velvet.de) from Munich and 3Deluxe (www.3deluxe.de) from Wiesbaden, which are some of my German favorites. Joost Korngold (www.renascent.nl) from the Netherlands is another example for good work from the European neighborhood. |
