Akama Studio - Rapt Soda Making Of
Studio Profile

Alexandre ADA created Akama Studio in 2003 and shortly after Cedric JEANNE joined. Both are producers and graphic artists and their studio specializes in 3D animation for short films, advertisements, video clips, trailers, generics (or credits), as well as in special effects for video or film in 2D and 3D post-production. Cedric and Alexandre also work independently from AKAMA STUDIO and sometimes work freelance on projects as graphic artists, supervisors, technical and artistic direction. Their newest short released by Akama Studios, RAPT Soda, has been hailed by a large audience. This is what the artists had to say about it:

IT'S ART: Can you tell us more about the beginning of AKAMA Studio and how you guys got into the industry?

Akama Studio: It was the first part of the animated movies AIDS that introduced AKAMA Studio to the industry. AIDS won a "Lion d'Or" during Cannes film festival in 2005. Later we worked on the advertising spot for Spontex that was very appreciated by the TV audience; the ad was voted one of the preferred advertisements of the French audience. Later the film that we directed for the Wilkinson campaign reinforced our reputation as directors. Each project brings its lot of new and interesting ideas and we evolve with each project. That is also why we try, whenever we can, to direct personal movies

IA: The work that you have done for Wilkinson was so popular online and now RAPT Soda is having the same success. How important is the internet as a channel for distribution and marketing?

AS: Since its creation the net was a very important distribution channel, that's what the internet was created for; it is a place to expose or broadcast freely and for free. I think it is a wonderful tool to exchange information, knowledge, culture and tendencies. The advertisement industry that suffered a lot when the internet was first created is now well aware of its importance and adapted itself to this new communication tool. In Europe, one in two houses is connected to the internet and Europeans spend in average 4 hours a week on the internet for leisure only; It is clear that all the rules that apply on other communication tools apply as well on the internet that have proved being a wonderful marketing and promotional channel. The internet is definitely helping art and artists since it offer all the tools needed for artists to display their work worldwide.
