IA: What do you think is the key to success in your pictures?

AR: Well, some people like them and others don’t, so I wouldn’t really call them successful. But as for those who like them, I have noticed they appreciate the lighting of the scene. The more you think about where the light comes from and where it goes to, and also what effect it has on the objects, the more lifelike the scene becomes and the more control you have over the mood you want to convey. I think creating a glow around light, reflected light, projected shadows and atmosphere are some of the key ingredients I like to play with.

IA: If you were to give advice to someone who would like to start a career as a digital artists what would it be?

AR: I don’t really know. Since I’m a learner myself I could be giving wrong advice. And everybody has a different character so people react very differently to certain things. For me, what works is keeping motivated by obtaining good results. And this is done with patience and care. If you really think a painting through, give it content and take your time to complete it, you will most certainly be closer to creating a good painting that will receive a reaction that will in turn give you a boost to start another painting, one even better than the last.
