David Lipman: Framestore Always Had A Desire To Work On An Animated Feature. This Was The Right Opportunity At The Right Time.

IA: What Was At Stake For Framestore In This Project?

Dl: We Partnered With Universal On This Project. We Had To Prove That We Were More Than A Vfx House.

IA: How Did Framestrore Convince Investors And Such Renowned Actors To Get Involved In The Tales Of Despereaux?

Dl : Universal Funded The Film.  Universal Producers Gary Ross And Allison Thomas Developed The Story And Cast The Film.

IA: You Say That "Despereaux Does Not Look Like Anything Else Out There, Employing A Palette And Lighting Drawn From The Dutch Masters." Can You Let Us Know More About The Work On Color?

Dl: Colors Are More Muted And The Use Of Light Very Naturalistic. There Is A Lot Of Black And Dark Space In The Film, Very Unusual For An Animated Movie.
