"It's all in the Details"
I
nterview with Stardust Studio's Creative Director Brad Tucker

Stardust Studios is an award winning creative production company with a long list of notable clients and a reputation for their artistic brilliance. One of the more recent works by Stardust is a set of three animated HD spots directed by Brad Tucker introducing Pontia's new GXP models. When we had a chance to ask Brad a few questions we focused on a :60 spot entitled "Details" and we were impressed by just that, the details.

IT'S ART: The recurring theme of this spot is the details of the new series of cars Pontiac. Was it one of your goals to draw attention to the shapes of the cars when you decided to use a simplified black and white design for the background and other elements?

Brad Tucker: Yes, the Pontiac spot was all about bringing out the different small details of the different GXP vehicles. We started the scenes off very minimal and slowly built up to the details throughout the spot until we fully revealed the cars at the end.

I.A: The first time I saw your new Pontiac spot it reminded me of the short film "Renaissance". Were you at all inspired by this movie? And what were your sources of inspiration for the spot?

BT: We pitched the spot first and made hand-drawn storyboards. It was after we won the pitch that the movie was brought to our attention by a fellow artist in France. When we actually saw the trailer we were blown away by it. At first, we played some with trying to make our backgrounds a little more detailed but conceptually there was too much detail and our message was lost so we fully stripped as much detail from our backgrounds as possible (see tests below).
