From the 5th to the 8th of May, the fmx/08, an exposition dedicated to the image and new visual technologies centered around conferences with prestigious guests, was held in Stuttgart, Germany. On the whole, the 13th gathering resembled a European SIGGRAPH... which is logical after all, as the American exposition is partnered with the event.

At the same time, the 13th International Animation Film Festival (http://www.itfs.de/) was underway, with more than 500 animations scheduled over six days and one 48-hour competition, which consisted of composing a short film of any sort with certain set elements in two days. Finally, there were 3D films with participants from the four corners of the globe. Among the nominees was an Iraqi duo who were stopped at the border because of visa problems.

Getting back to fmx/08, the exposition was divided into three parts: the research section, stalls and schools, retailers and software editors and, finally, conferences. Unfortunately, there were few things to see in the first category, around ten stalls, but the thing that stood out was a holographic representation based on a rotating mirror from the laboratory of P. Debevec
