Making Of the "Golden Panda" by Kirsi Salonen

Below is the final refined image and as you can see the textures and that soft spotlight play a huge part in the piece's overall appearance. They are mostly sprinkled to the points where light touches the skin or hair the most. My idea was to make this piece feel alive and not filled with something that just looks nice. The hand is also quite different now then in the previous stages. I asked my boyfriend to pose his arm and hand so I could get a sense how an animal should be held gently. The tear on the boy's face was the last thing I did. It was something my boyfriend asked me to do as the final touch. It was made easily with a small 5 px brush in color dodge mode with a texture on it. All of the textures I use are found in CS2’s texture library. I rarely use custom textures but I do use a lot of custom brushes.
