Never ignore the laws of composition and color combinations. They were developed ages ago, perfected and presented to you on a saucer. Desire to taste it -) As such, I recommend picking up a copy of this book. Reasonably, it’s impossible to surprise somebody with a realistically rendered mobile phone in the center of a shot. If you want your work to please and be memorable, it must have more. If we convert it using algebra, we can say that the different aspects of work are not adding, but multiplying. Entering the 5th grade system under such disciplines as color, composition and technical execution, it’s possible to make such examples.
Example 1 : Ideal technical execution, bad composition, bad color (A realistic cigarette-lighter badly cropped with insufficiently considered combination of colors) : total we get 5*2*2=20
Example 2 : All three aspects are fine (Unbelievable masterpiece with well thoughtout composition, charming color gamut and excellent technical execution) : 5*5*5=125
A bit higher grade, than in the first example -) I agree that it is a primitive chart. There are other factors such as an idea for example, mood of work, but however we think about it... A bit distracted from the theme -) Let’s return to my work. Here is one test render on this stage (upside right).

The more I continued to work on the cat and the padded stool, I knew already that it would be artistic and thought to draw something interesting on the wall. An idea of a vine and easel appeared suddenly with a howl of «Eureka!». I distinctly saw something that looked more like a final picture. In such moments, I always feel myself on upgrade and on that day, I drew without stopping. And at night, I slept like a baby -)My picture at this stage looked approximately like the picture on the left.
Then I continued toward the realization of my plan. A cat and branches of vines were led in ZBrush. By the way, the process of work realization in 3D can be completed in three basic stagesmodeling, textures and light. But raise the grading system that much higher. I say this because you must not neglect any one of the stages and you have to try to do each of them maximally well, because they are closely interrelated.
Photos were used for texturing of the easel, branches of vine, leaves and canvas. On the easel, texture of the branches and the dust was drawn by hand. A canvas is texture of canvas on bump. Branches of vines are bark from Foto, and a leaf is a leaf -) Everything else is color or texture drawn by hand.For example, the cat, the wall and the padded stool. An idea of a wave and fishes appeared when I saw that compositionally, attention rivets exactly to the wall. So, I decided to try «twist» and created a simple sketch.
