IA: What's your favorite software? And why?

RL: Photoshop, because I know how to use it and I don’t want to learn new software every year.

IA: What's the software feature you're dreaming?

RL: Well, I guess I’m happy with what I have. I use very simple features.

IA: What's your own definition of art?

RL: What a question! For me, it is capturing a mood, an image that will make you feel emotions. But it is only related to my art! Everyone will have his own definition and I will never have the pretention to have THE definition.

IA: For you what are the differences between photography and digital art?

RL: Photography is our main tool so it is always in the process: references, textures, mattes. We use photography so much that it can’t really be considered as a different medium for us.

IA: What are the advantages and disadvantages of digital art and photography in enabling you to express yourself?

RL: I manage image composition, lighting and depth easier since I have a background in traditional photography. I think this also helps me to create digital pictures that could have a more “plausible” look. Well I hope so…

IA: If you should choose only one art medium to express a feeling which one would you choose?

RL: The fastest would be photo but I like painting because it can be more efficient in expressing a particular mood you have in mind.

IA: If you were asked to reinterpret one famous artwork which would it be? Why?

RL: I usually like to study the work of Caspard David Friedrich. I enjoy learning from his knowledge and his understanding of the complexity of nature and its representation. Maybe the next one will be one of David Roberts.
