Monday, July 31. 2006A Highly Novel 3-D Virtual Art Gallery I-Maginer, developer of three-dimensional, real-time collaborative online environments, and digital artist Jean-Marie Minazio are launching a highly novel 3-D, virtual art gallery, the Avat’Art Project. Set to launch Aug. 1 in connection with the opening of the SIGGRAPH trade show in Boston, this project is a concept, an artistic performance, and ultimately a new medium, created with a recently launched online service called MyBlog3d.Beyond the technology of virtual reality, an inevitable future appears: The digital world is coming to life and will soon become a separate reality alongside our physical existence. The Avat’Art Project is a real, living place for creativity, exchange and sharing, but it’s also a place with no physical manifestation. It’s an online 3-D loft-style art gallery to be visited in real time. Continue reading "A Highly Novel 3-D Virtual Art Gallery"

Saturday, March 11. 2006SpherAleas - Tridimensional interactive / sound / image installation By Grégory Lasserre & Anaïs met den AncxtAleas arose from a reflection about how to materialise/draw sound with 3D images. It is a synthesis software, treating sounds and abstract images, able to create a dialogue with reality by using tactile sensors. It thus creates an interactive, sensitive relationship with the audience. It allows to create, modify, observe and manipulate moving 3D shapes. By manipulating the sensors, the spectator can continuously intervene on the whole structure by playing with the different variables: order, side-by-side positioning, overlapping, speed, rhythm, harmonic pitch… Thus, by positioning new materials, users create sustained tunes made of rhythmic relationships animated by subtle temporal intervals. Each user appropriates the system as he create particular processes of repetitive poliphony where parts overlap then disappear into hypnotic swirls. The audience determines the future of the work by experimenting with infinite orchestrations. They easily control the tune thus generated: a direct relation between man, image and music. Website here

Sunday, January 22. 2006ALL DIGITAL ALL DIGITAL - On View Jan. 20 – May 7, 2006 - MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART CLEVELANDAll Digital brings together outstanding examples of computer generated art by eight artists from around the world. By engaging digital technologies in their work, these artists have exponentially expanded the expressive and aesthetic possibilities of art, radically extended the "palette" and materials available to them, the forms that works of art can take, and the dimension or dimensions in which they can exist. The Pong myth has already emancipated itself from its historical origins in the game arcades. It has become influential in a larger context. The exhibition uses Pong to paradigmatically question man’s situation in society from various perspectives. Noticeably, this approach is often followed by young artists. Pong is therefore a common leitmotif in current artistic production. However, this labour on the myth not only deconstructs but also continues and extends it.More information about this exhibition here ______________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________
