Quidam can import or export any .obj but you can also use modules on Quidam for 3DS Max, Maya, Lighwave, Cinema 4D and Carrara, as well as the module Low-Poly Access. In its basic version, Quidam creates and exports models automatically subdivided (i.e. smoothed). The plug-in « Low Poly Access » adds to Quidam the possibility to visualize, edit and export the elementary structure (Low Poly) of each character produced. This plug-in is aimed at advanced users, notably to professionals of Real Time 3D and video games. It offers precise control of the base mesh which can be exported to other programs for retouching, subdivision and animation. It also features another function: « X Mode », with which you can adjust the Low Poly to resemble its high resolution subdivided counterpart, a calibration for all accessories to the « Low Poly » version of the characters, and a unique tool to accentuate and relax the 3D forms by differential offset.
The original import in .obj format allows working on a model in the new version of the Photoshop Extended. A 3D model saved on Quidam can be used with Photoshop for simple assembling. Quidam offers these new tools to illustrators that do not master 3D but wish to propose new concepts and ideas in a fast way.
Users of 3D software will certainly prefer to use plug-ins compatible with their software. It is possible to recover all the information generated by Quidam such as the geometry, the textures, the UVs, bones and skinning. It then becomes easy to animate a character from a base created with Quidam. You will discover the Lightwave plug-in in this video.
